Com service unblocks 8 mln IP addresses Telegram uses no more

MOSCOW, Jun 9 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has unblocked a part of sub-systems of Amazon and a sub-system of hosting provider Online SAS, counting 8 million IP addresses that were earlier used by messenger Telegram to skirt nationwide muting, an authority spokesperson said late on Friday.

“The sub-systems that are not exploited by Telegram anymore to work on the territory of Russia were unblocked,” the spokesperson said.

A Moscow court blocked Telegram in the middle of April for the popular messenger’s reluctance to share decoding keys with the Federal Security Service, the move Telegram says is technologically and morally impossible.

In order to maintain operations in the country, Telegram started using hosting of Amazon and Google, whose ID addresses were frozen by the communications service, which provoked a wave of issues in work of multiple third-party services in Russia.
